Members of the League of Women Voters of Oakland will be on hand to present the pros & cons of the measures & propositions that are up for a vote in the upcoming General Election in November, & to facilitate discussion of the issues they address. In the City of Oakland, these include Measure HH that will tax distributors of sugar-sweetened beverages, Measure JJ to help protect renters, Measure KK, a $600 million bond for public safety and investment in the neighborhoods & Measure LL, a charter amendment to establish civilian oversight of the police. Measure G1 will levy a parcel tax to help fund the Oakland public schools. Measure A1 allows the county to issue bonds to help to ease the housing crisis. Other measures along with questions about the city’s Rank Choice Voting (RCV) method will also be addressed.
